CHASING HAPPY
I'm not built to work in an environment where I'm being told what to do. I've worked for others in some capacity since the age of eleven. Questioning authority and thinking outside of the box wasn't really a thing that I was ever allowed to do in any of my past 'careers'. I was always chasing a version of happy thinking that it could be found working for someone else, punching a time clock with a reliable paycheck.
Well... that didn't quite work out. Once my son was born, I experienced true happiness. I became an addict. Quickly realizing that going back to the status quo would not suit me any longer.
why soap?
Funnily enough, it began with a ridiculous hypothetical conversation about the zombie apocalypse which led to another conversation about the 'new' currency and medicine in this imaginary scenario. The new currency/ medicine being: SOAP.
I thought to myself, 'Self: I bet I could learn how to make soap and probably end up selling a few bars.'
Thank you Internet for providing all of the research a gal would ever need to learn how to make soap! Research led to execution and the first batch was made. It was an Oatmeal Soap made with Goats Milk, Oatmeal and Honey scented with Orange and Clove. (I still make it to this day!)

On my journey to chasing my happy dragon, I found that soap making gave me the happy I was searching for. I opened an Etsy shop with two measly scented soaps and three lip balms. I sold out quickly.
From there, my new hobby transformed into a passion which snowballed into what we have today. From a small 2 bedroom apartment to TWO shops in Oregon. Everything is still made by hand daily in our Coos Bay Shop.
